Overview
If you have forgotten your network password, you can reset it through Self-Service Password Reset. If you cannot complete verification, you can request assistance from ITS.
Environment
You need to have registered a verification method accepted by the password-reset tool before you can reset your password yourself. The tool will show the options available for your account.
Instructions
Check Your Sign-In Methods
While you can still sign in, review your account on the Security info page. For instructions to register your methods, see Microsoft Authenticator or Setting Up a Synced Passkey. Signing in with a passkey and resetting a forgotten password are different tasks; the password-reset tool determines which verification methods can be used.
Reset Your Password
- Open Self-Service Password Reset.
- Enter your Etown email address and the characters shown on the page, then click Next.
- Complete the verification steps offered for your account.
- Enter and confirm your new password, then finish the reset.
- Sign in to your Etown account with your new password.
If you cannot complete verification, or the tool asks you to contact an administrator, use the Password Reset service or contact the ITS Help Desk. You will need ITS assistance if you cannot verify your identity with a registered method.
Additional Information
When requesting a password reset from ITS, have the last four digits of your social security number and your college ID ready. These pieces of information are needed to verify your identity. You will not need to input this information in the request form; however, it will be asked when we contact you.
