Overview
When you change your phone or device, you may need to update the passkeys or Microsoft Authenticator registration for your Etown account. If you can still verify your sign-in, you can update your methods yourself. If you cannot verify your sign-in, you can request assistance from ITS.
Environment
Anyone who needs to add, update, or recover a passkey or Microsoft Authenticator registration for their Etown account.
Details
The self-service update button will take you to the Security info page of your Etown account. Here you can add a passkey or register Microsoft Authenticator on your new device. This option only works if you can verify your sign-in with an existing method. To make a self-service change, click the Update My Sign-In Methods button at the top right.
After adding a method, test it before removing the old registration or erasing your old device. A passkey saved with a synced provider may already be available on your new device; check that it works before removing the old registration. Installing or restoring Authenticator alone does not complete registration for your Etown account.
If you cannot verify your sign-in, click the Request Sign-In Help button at the top right. This will create a ticket for ITS to assist you with restoring access and registering a working method. If you cannot access the form, contact the ITS Help Desk.

When requesting an MFA reset, have the last four digits of your social security number and your college ID ready. These pieces of information are needed to verify your identity. You will not need to input this information in the request form; however, it will be asked when we contact you.
